Harpswell Welcomes FedEx to the Dorms

March 4, 2019: On Sunday, students and staff were delighted to welcome FedEx’s Global Leadership Corps Team to Harpswell. The Global Leadership Corps is visiting Cambodia as part of FedEx’s corporate volunteer program.Harpswell was connected with the FedEx Team earlier this year by PyxeraGlobal, a DC-based NGO managing the Leadership Corps’ trip in Cambodia. Renay Loper, Pyxera’s Associate Director of Global Pro Bono, is on Harpswell’s Board of Trustees.The afternoon began with a tour of the Harpswell dorms and facilities. Afterwards, a panel of eight women from the FedEx team spoke to students about their careers in marketing and public relations, operations, finance, accounting, legal and IT. They reflected on their educational backgrounds, their experiences as women in the workplace, and the definition of success. The panelists also discussed leadership styles and shared words of wisdom for the students as they embark on their careers.Students then had the opportunity to ask questions about life at FedEx, the speakers’ personal lives, and finding joy in work. Following the panel, the FedEx team and students continued their lively discussions over snacks.
