Foundations for the Future
Harpswell’s Mentorship Program brings together ambitious young women from Harpswell's community in Southeast Asia with experienced professionals ready to share their time and knowledge.
Mentors bring real-world insight from their own career journeys while mentees bring fresh ambition and readiness to grow. Together, each pair build relationships that spark growth in their careers and communities.
Roles and expectations
Mentors are expected to:
Share knowledge, experiences, and professional insights.
Provide guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback.
Support the mentee's development goals and career aspirations.
Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving rather than providing direct answers.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in discussions.
Be available for regular meetings and communicate any scheduling conflicts in advance.
Help mentees identify development opportunities, resources, and networks where appropriate.
Mentees are expected to:
Proactively schedules meetings with their mentor.
Comes prepared for each meeting with topics, questions, or challenges to discuss.
Sends a meeting agenda and clearly communicates what they would like to achieve from each meeting in advance.
Is open to feedback and willing to take action on agreed development plans.
Follows through on commitments and action items between meetings.
Respects the mentor's and their own time and communicates any scheduling changes promptly.
Takes ownership of their development and learning journey.
Commitment
The program runs entirely virtually over six months, from July to December 2026. The total expected time commitment for this duration is eight hours across different sessions.
One one-hour virtual mentorship program launch event
Five 45-minute virtual monthly mentorship session. Scheduling is arranged directly between mentor and mentee.
One one-hour virtual mid-term check-in
One one-hour virtual closing event
Each pair is expected to come in prepared and open to learn.
