Harpswell Alumna Menghun Kaing Wins Award from the Asia Foundation
January 19, 2018: Harpswell Alumna Kaing Menghun (Class of 2011) has been awarded the 2017 Presidential Award for Exceptional Performance by the Asia Foundation. The award, which is given to just 18 employees around the world, recognizes Menghun for her outstanding contributions to the Foundation.Menghun was also just promoted to Senior Program Officer. She has been a Program Officer at the Asia Foundation since 2014. Among her many accomplishments, Menghun recently oversaw the development and management of the cutting-edge program, TEKHUB, which provides support for Cambodian technology start-ups. The Asia Foundation has received invitations to present on their work in the tech sector from organizations such as the World Bank and USAID, which they credit to Menghun’s work. Menghun has also developed technology to help Cambodian women secure safe jobs in the garment and apparel sector and programming to promote women’s safety in urban areas. This year, she organized a trip to Korea to participate in a study of women’s economic development. The Asia Foundation applauded Menghun for her patience, diplomacy, insight, and ability to “juggle the many balls given to her each time.”
