Harpswell Graduate Gives Back

September 28, 2018: We are excited to share some moving news about one of our graduates. In August, we received a large donation from Harpswell alumna, Theang Sithat, Class of 2013. Sithat’s gift marks the first time than an alumna has donated to Harpswell. Sithat studied law at the Royal University of Law and Economics, and received a master’s degree from RULE with Harpswell support.

She told Harpswell Country Director Moul Samneang: “I’ve been saving money for years with the attempt to contribute to Harpswell. I can’t put in words how much I appreciate the support I received from Harpswell all those years, and that inspires me to support a girl who can’t afford to do their master’s in Cambodia.”

Sithat currently works as legal officer in Phnom Penh and is married, with a one-year-old child. She told Samneang that Harpswell helped her to explore who she is and rise up to her full potential. We are immensely grateful to Sithat for her support. Her generosity embodies the Harpswell spirit: Sithat is leading the way in building a supportive network of young women leaders who invest in the potential of other women as a force for social change.
