Len Leng Receives Open Society Foundation's Civil Society Leadership Award

May 6, 2019: Len Leng, Harpswell ’14, was named a recipient of the Open Society Foundation's Civil Society Leadership Award. With the support of the scholarship, Len will pursue her master’s degree in communications, journalism and media at Syracuse University in New York. The Civil Society Leadership Award provides fully-funded scholarships for master’s degree study to individuals who demonstrate academic and professional excellence and a deep commitment to leading positive social change in their communities.

Len is a graduate of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in media management. As a Harpswell US Fellow, she spent a year studying at Bowdoin College in Maine. She is an accomplished freelance news reporter, who has written for many publications including Southeast Asia Globe, Reuters, the NY Times, and Aljazeera.
