2019 ASEAN Women’s Leadership Programme
June 17, 2019: On Saturday, 22 young women from the ten ASEAN countries and Nepal arrived at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to attend the third annual Harpswell ASEAN Program in Women’s Leadership. We also welcomed back three program alumnae, who will help facilitate discussions and build the alumnae network.During the eleven-day program, participants will attend workshops and seminars on critical thinking, women’s health, debate, leadership skills, civic engagement, Southeast Asian government and society, gender studies, and communications and technology. This year’s program is already off to a strong start, with participants engaging in lively discussions and friendships quickly forming.On Sunday evening, participants and program staff were invited to a formal dinner hosted by USM's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail. Students were honored to meet and hear from Prof. Ismail, who is USM's first female Vice Chancellor.
