Harpswell Student Selected as Valedictorian at AUPP

During her time at university, she took on many leadership roles: she organized a debate forum, co-drafted the University’s first student government constitution, founded and later became the editor of the first student- led newspaper at AUPP, led a Latin Culture Club, and organized the first ASEAN Model Meeting at AUPP. At Harpswell, she ran the English-Speaking Club and was a Self-Study Team Leader. She studied at two research-intensive institutions, spent a semester at American University in Washington DC, and won the US Peace Corps 2015 Write-On Competition. This summer, Sievlan will return to the US as a Harpswell US Fellow to study sustainable development at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.

During her valedictorian speech, Sievlan thanked those who helped her along the way, including her family, AUPP, and Harpswell: “Less than half of our country’s peers have the opportunity to pursue higher education.
